Who can join the PTA?
Blazier PTA welcomes everyone! Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Teachers! Anyone who wants to enrich the experience for our Blazier Bluejays and the Community.
What is the PTA responsible for?
Blazier PTA raises funds to provide programs, activities and supplies for our students by helping to fulfill school and classroom needs. We also create community within our school through events and activities. Our PTA has been coordinating fun events for the school including:
Freaky Friday Dance for Blazier Families
Pictures with Santa (K-2)
Blazier Community Movie Night
Teacher Request Program for any teacher who joins PTA
Recognition and Appreciation to School Staff
Breakfast with Bluejays - an exclusive event for PTA members!
Field Day and Healthy Lifestyle Support
And much, much more.
Why should I join?
Join for your child! It's all about them—enhancing their experience and education at Blazier. The school can only do so much with the funds it has so we supplement - your membership dues help enhance our children’s education experience and advocate where necessary.
How do I join, and what is the cost? What happens to our dues?
You can join online through joinpta.org. Membership is $12 per year. A portion is used directly in support of Blazier and our mission and the remaining portion goes to National and State dues that allow for large scale advocacy for public education.
May I attend PTA events if I don't join?
All are welcome at many events throughout the school year. We encourage you to become a member for access to Exclusive PTA member events and benefits and perks for volunteers. Texas PTA also offers discounts on select services and products for all members.
Do I have to come to school to volunteer?
Not necessarily, there are tasks you can do at home to help. (Examples: putting packets together, coordinating projects by making calls, etc.)
Is volunteering for requires and how often will I have to volunteer?
If everyone does a little, it goes a long way! Volunteers are essential in order to fulfill our mission and we welcome you to volunteer as much as you can. We will provide volunteer needs to all members, but volunteering is never required and we will never pressure you.
When and where are the meetings? What happens there?
We meet virtually on the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. through Google Meet. Non-members are welcome to attend but are unable to vote on any issues or questions. The meetings allow PTA and School Leadership to share successes and upcoming happening as well as discuss school priorities and changes, solicits questions and/or concerns from the membership. Votes are called upon and executed as required to proceed in our slated business.
Can I volunteer even if I am unable to come to the meetings?
Absolutely! You can sign up to volunteer anytime. We do hope you will join the meetings when possible, your input is important to us and necessary to our mission. As many of us do, you can listen from your phone while you cook dinner or take the kids to practice!
How does the PTA raise money? What do you do with the funds?
Our money comes from your memberships, fundraiser events, and donations from families and local businesses. All of our funds are used to support the students, teachers, and staff at Blazier Elementary. We achieve this through sponsoring school activities, hosting school wide events, such as the Freaky Friday Dance, and providing assistance with testing support, field trips, field day and more.
How do I contact you with questions?
You can visit our Contact page right now. You can also find us through our Facebook page or at hello@blazierpta.org.
What is PTA, Anyway?
The PTA exists to identify the needs of all students, the school, its families and community. Together we help provide each student a safe environment with the best teachers, tools and resources to meet those needs, unlocking success in every child.
